Share records with an accountant

Invite an accountant to read-only access, decide what they can review, and keep owner-only controls protected.

Follow the sequence

Work through the steps in order and return to this guide whenever the next action is unclear.

Keep the records current

Capture and review information as it happens, rather than leaving the whole quarter until the end.

Review before you finish

Check the details and any supporting evidence before completing the task.

What this guide covers

Accountant access is designed for review and handoff, not handing over control of your HMRC account. You stay in charge of edits, connections, billing, and submissions.

02

1. Open Accountant Access from Account

In the Account workspace, choose Accountant Access and enter your accountant's email address. The invitation creates a read-only review path.

2. Understand what they can see

An accepted accountant can review transactions, evidence, invoices, payments, reports, and audit history. This gives them enough context to advise without needing your login.

3. Keep control of sensitive actions

Only the account owner can change records, connect providers, manage billing, approve HMRC submissions, or revoke access.

4. Revoke access when needed

Return to Accountant Access if the relationship changes. Revoking access removes the live workspace view while keeping the underlying business records intact.
