The short answer
A trial balance lists debit and credit account balances. SimpleTaxFlow derives it from your cashbook and explicit opening entries. It is not statutory accounts or a Corporation Tax calculation.
1. Open Trial balance
Select the correct entity, open Reports, then More reports and tools and Open trial balance and year-end pack. Choose Reporting period and Update trial balance.
Open Trial balance2. Check openings and account mapping
Statement checks supply bank openings for the selected start date. Income and expense accounts use category codes. Cash, bank and director-or-owner-funds retain their payment source. Missing source and category mappings remain visible.
Review bank accounts3. Add explicit balances
Use Opening balances and adjustments for capital, loans, director balances and other opening amounts. Enter Account code, Description and one Debit or Credit. Add opening entry saves it for this entity and start date. Delete removes a mistaken entry.
Open Trial balance4. Review the difference and export
The Unbalanced difference is shown separately. No balancing figure is inserted. Review unconfirmed records and missing bank openings, then Download year-end pack. The digital JSON contains your accounting period, profit and loss, trial balance, mappings and transactions. It does not file accounts or calculate Corporation Tax. SimpleCompanyTax handoff is planned after the MVP. This download is for bookkeeping review.
