Work through the steps in order and return to this guide whenever the next action is unclear.

Keep the records current

Capture and review information as it happens, rather than leaving the whole quarter until the end.

Review before you finish

Check the details and any supporting evidence before completing the task.

What this guide covers

Year end closes the tax-year journey. SimpleTaxFlow guides supported cases through the required checks and provides a handoff route when another income type needs different software or professional help.

02

1. Finish the quarterly record

Confirm all required quarterly updates are accepted and resolve uncategorised or missing records. Year-end totals depend on the digital records and submissions already held for the tax year.

2. Review annual business figures

Open the year-end journey in Filing and review each self-employment or property business. Complete allowances and adjustments, then resolve any profit summary that needs to be refreshed after later changes.

Read allowances and BSAS

3. Declare other income and capability

Review savings, dividends, employment, CIS, and losses where they apply. Answer the supported-income check honestly. When SimpleTaxFlow cannot complete the full declaration, download the handoff pack and use compatible software or an accountant.

4. Check tax and make the declaration

Review the latest HMRC calculation, payments on account, and any warnings. Read the declaration carefully and submit only when the in-app capability and readiness checks allow it. Keep the HMRC confirmation afterwards.
