The short version
The final declaration completes your annual Self Assessment tax return through compatible MTD software. Review your records, annual figures, other income and HMRC’s calculation before confirming the declaration.
Review the full tax-year position
In SimpleTaxFlow Tax, Open year-end steps groups the existing checks into seven entry points. Fix records, resend Q4 if changed, review allowances and losses, add other income, check HMRC’s calculation, declare and submit, then pay. Existing calculation errors and eligibility checks still apply.
Keep the estimate and calculation distinct
Current shows HMRC’s calculation unchanged, including the income and claims it holds. Estimate combines each business’s HMRC income and expenses through its latest update with your records dated after that business’s update. The estimate and year-end summary use the same record classifications and ownership shares. It excludes dividends, pensions and savings interest, and does not yet include unsent corrections inside covered periods. Read the source, dates, messages and disclaimer before relying on either figure. Opening the breakdown retrieves an existing HMRC calculation; Refresh requests a new one. The declaration remains a separate confirmation. Submitting your return does not make a payment.
Keep the accepted confirmation
Your confirmation shows the existing amendment deadline. Read HMRC’s full return guidance at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/use-making-tax-digital-for-income-tax/submit-your-tax-return. Start with SimpleTaxFlow: £1 + VAT/month for 6 months, then £5 + VAT/month.
