The short version
You do not have to upload every receipt into your software. Keep supporting records as well as the digital income and expense records required for Making Tax Digital.
Keep the record and its evidence
HMRC explains digital record keeping and supporting records at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/use-making-tax-digital-for-income-tax/create-digital-records. A receipt supports a transaction. A picture on its own does not replace the required transaction record.
Match before creating another payment
A bank import may already represent the purchase. In SimpleTaxFlow Receipts, check the possible payment matches or search before recording cash or personal funds. An unread file can be completed manually. Delete asks once and leaves payments unchanged.
Keep paper evidence accessible
Use I have it on paper or Add a note when the supporting evidence is held elsewhere. These choices do not change the financial treatment or block sending an update. Keep the underlying records available. Start with SimpleTaxFlow: £1 + VAT/month for 6 months, then £5 + VAT/month.
Put this into practice
Follow the step-by-step SimpleTaxFlow workflow when you are ready to act.
